Wedding Emergency Kit: Why Should Have One and What Should Be In It

Stressed out? I can only imagine. How about we try to prepare for any emergencies by creating a wedding emergency kit in advance. By developing a kit like this you can ease some of those anxieties and feel more prepared for whatever the wedding day may throw at you. Normally this includes things like toiletries or other essentials to try to have a solution to any potential foreseeable problem. I have also included a section specific for a “rainy day kit.”

  1. Jewelry Cleaner: Your photographer and videographer will be getting some close up shots of your engagement ring, wedding bands, and bridal accessories. Make sure those pieces have all the sparkle they can! Jewelry cleaner may not even be used, but remember this is a whole list of items you may not use at all.

  2. Sewing Kit. Having a nice supply of sewing essentials may come in handy when that button or seam splits! Pro tips: Have thread in supply that matches your dress, your bridesmaids outfits, and your groomsmen outfits.

  3. Makeup. Touch-ups might be desperately needed going into the reception hours. Plotting pads, concealer, setting spray, eyelash glue, some mascara and anything else you think might wear after half the day is up. Pro tip: Hire a makeup artist vendor that includes a unique makeup touch-up kit for you that already matches your look for the day!

  4. Jewelry Backups: You would be surprised at how easy a necklace or earring can break or maybe you find out that those earrings you loved so much are just way too heavy. Having a backup can be prepared for any one of these problems.

  5. “Oh S***” List: Let’s do it! Here are a list of items that could be included: hairspray, bandaids, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, tampons, pads, underwear, pain reliever, allergy medication, antacid medication, lint roller, portable steamer, stain remover, lotion, fashion tape, deodorant, bobby pins, safety pins, clear nail polish, nail file, nail clipper, brush, comb, q-tips, superglue, tweezers, blister protection, hair ties, tissues, eyedrops, chapstick, sunscreen, bug spray, fan, lighter, phone chargers (for any device type), portable battery charger, extension cords, bluetooth speakers, pen and paper, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, small snack protein bars, juice, energy drinks, candy, straws, mints, gum, and any airplane sized alcohol bottles you may need.

Rain may happen. Getting married during one of the rainiest times of the year? Yeah, definitely should plan ahead. What can you do to be prepared for it? You may not be able to hold off until it passes so here are some items to add to your emergency kit that are specific to the rainy day occasion

  1. Clear Umbrellas. Having clear umbrellas can be great for pictures so they don’t block your faces or decor while still keeping you dry. Sometimes even venues will have umbrellas in their inventory for couples to use just in case.

  2. Blankets. Rain will often bring cool temperatures with wind. If you can, find a way to have blankets or towels available to you, your wedding party, and your guests so everyone is comfortable and can enjoy the occasion dry and warm.

  3. Bridal Rain Boots. They would make for a cute photo-op while still staying functional! Bridal boots can be purchased as white or decorated in a way that matches your wedding decor theme.

  4. Hot Drinks. Have hot coco, tea, and water supplied with your catering vendor so you and your guests stay nice and warm throughout the night.

  5. The Right Energy. If you don’t let the rain get to you, then it won’t get to your guests either! You might as well embrace the reality of the rain and make it a part of the theme! There can be some really epic photos taken with a rainy day wedding, so don’t feel like the day is ruined because you can’t get those golden hour shots.
