Wedding Musts: Covid Edition

What to Have at Your Wedding: Covid Edition

What things can you have at your wedding in lue of Covid-19? What things may be necessary right now? What unique things can you have to remember you made it through a pandemic wedding? I have made a short list of suggestions for things others suggest as “must haves” as well as links to unique or custom items that you may like to have on your big day.

Hand Sanitizer. May seem pretty obvious but sometimes the most obvious things slip away in planning. No one said they had to be tacky either! Get some paint, mod podge, ribbon, or glitter and make those bottles perfectly match your theme. It will blend nicely while also making sure everyone feels comfortable.

Masks. Another obvious. You may not so easily forget this one but like the bottles, why not make them match? If you or someone you know is great at sewing maybe you can make some custom masks that match your dresses and suits. There are several small businesses selling custom masks as well, even as guest favors! Either way, seeing custom wedding masks in that ‘forever chest’ is definitely going to be a conversation starter.

No to Buffet. As much as buffet styles can make everyone happy, it would be safer for all to have a caterer who serves the food. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to pay an arm and a leg. Mission Barbeque was a great choice for a recent wedding! They brought amazing food, had tables come to line in shifts, and served everyone while wearing gloves and masks.

Social Distancing. Yes, we must try our best to do this still. When talking to your venue ask questions regarding how social distancing can best be adjusted for your wedding day. This could mean more or spaced out seating options at the ceremony, moving standing tables to the lawn for space, or keeping the reception tables at a certain distance.

Ceremony Now, Party Later. Many ‘soon to be married’ couples have chosen to elope on their original set date and postpone the reception party to a later date. This can help ensure that your marriage still happens when you planned but also plans for a day that everyone can celebrate together. Some have chosen to narrow down their guest list to meet state mandated requirements as well. Either way, make sure you still end up doing what is important to you!

Comfort Levels. Everyone right now has different reasons and concerns for the pandemic. Make your guests all feel comfortable by offering bracelets at the beginning of the event. These bracelets are three different colors with green meaning ‘I am okay with hugs’, yellow meaning ‘I am okay with talking but no touching’, and red meaning ‘I am going to wave from six feet away.’ This makes an easy environment where no one has to explain which comfort level they may be at to every single guest. Wrist bracelets like that can be found cheap and in bulk normally. Get some signage to go along with it!

Toast Glasses: It is not unusual for the bride and groom to have custom or unique toasting glasses for champagne or wine. Maybe you ended up having to change your date and party later. Mark off your to-do list by ordering some custom toasting glasses that also brings attention to that fact! This unique time in everyone's life makes for some unique wedding details. Check out this etsy shop to see some custom glasses!
