Why Hiring a Professional Photographer is a Must

Now we all know that weddings are expensive. It’s hard to budget and know where you should be putting each dollar. There are plenty of ways to figure out how much you should invest in each wedding vendor, but more importantly you have to decide which vendors matter to you. Most commonly couples will invest most of their budget on the wedding venue, catering, videographer, and photographer. Since I specialize in the photography part, let’s get into why investing in a professional is a must.

  1. Professional VS. Family Friend. One of the biggest reasons couples ever choose a family friend over a professional photographer is because of the appeal of saving money. Uncle Joe may do it for just a couple hundred dollars, or maybe even free and how could you pass that up? Well, for one there is a reason he would be willing to do it that cheap. Are you willing to risk poor quality photos, missed shots, and crappy posing on your wedding day?

  2. Equipment. Professionals will carry a mass inventory of a variety of professional grade photography equipment that costs several thousands of dollars of upkeep. This can mean the camera bodies, camera lenses, camera filters, lighting set-ups, and every other little item needed to keep turning all the gears in the system. Amateur photographers will not have the inventory built up nor the budget to upkeep proper maintenance on the equipment to ensure your wedding day runs without a hitch.

  3. Artistry. Photography is still a form of art and professional photographers have spent the time and energy through thousands of hours of trial and error to find the perfect compositions and posing. There is a reason photos taken from the eye of an actual artist look so much more breathtaking. I can almost guarantee that everyone of those Pinterest wedding day photos saved on your board was taken by a professional. Hiring an amateur with the expectation they can provide pro work is just unrealistic.

  4. Staging and Coaching. Outside of knowing how to take a proper photo, a pro photographer knows how to communicate. Photographers are interacting with more than just you and your partner on your wedding day. Your family, friends, wedding party, and guests are all people we will eventually end up coaching through the night to get those beautiful candid shots. Since basically everyone at your wedding hasn’t had modeling experience, a lot of people will be looking for directions. Good thing pros have training in this! We know exactly what to say to get those natural reactions from even the most awkward of people ;)

  5. On The Fly. Through seeing just about every wedding derailing incident possible, our experience allows for us to be prepared and adapt to any change from your original schedule. We are able to improvise with any environment or condition and still get frame worthy shots. Your day may not go exactly as planned, but you can trust that your professionals will know exactly what to do to stay on track.
